You don’t always need to change your cabinet layout, or move walls, to make an extreme kitchen makeover. Sometimes simple updates can have a huge impact on a room, as you’ll see with this kitchen.
The owners were looking for a custom cabinet maker online when they came across my website and fell in love with a project I did a few years ago (see the inspiration below). Upon meeting, they also showed me a drawing they did themselves of their dream kitchen. Between seeing my previous work, and their drawing, I had a pretty good idea what they wanted.
The size of the kitchen, window placement, and patio door made keeping the appliances in the same location our best option. We just needed to enhance the space with new cabinets.
Their dream kitchen was maple, with beaded flush inset raised panel doors. The cabinets had a medium-dark stain, and then a black glaze was added, which give the cabinets an antique look. We also added soft close drawer slides and hinges – no more drawers or doors banging.
Often times customers are concerned that dark cabinets will make their room appear smaller, but in this case, new lighter counter tops, and more efficient lighting, actually make the room feel larger.
New silestone counter tops, with an under mount stain less sink, draw your eyes to the sink bump out. And finally, new flooring, along with stainless appliances, finish off the makeover.
This is my favorite kitchen remodel so far. Thank you Doug and Michelle for your business, and I hope you enjoy your kitchen for many years to come.
